please excuse me but i've got to ask.....are you only being nice because you want something?

"borrowed" this pic of zlatan (in a compromising position) from my sister's blog...

the official explanation is that he's "playing with the cords under the cupboard"

mmm, yea right, of course he is...!

EARTH HOUR 2010

DON'T FORGET

WWF EARTH HOUR LINK

the easiest way to sell your soul is to carry on believing that we don't exist it must be hard with your head on backwards

they may not be the prettiest american pancakes ever baked
i may not be the best cook that ever walked the earth (hah, as if!)

it doesn't stop me from trying...and today i decided to try and make american pancakes...i'm as shocked as you probably are...but i succeeded!!! they were edible...a bit more than just edible in fact...quite nice actually!

(five american pancakes with butter, blueberries, raspberries, almonds and maple syrup)

american pancakes (serves four people according to the cook book...but in reality just one tiny person!)
3 dl plain flour
1 tbs sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate
3 dl natural yoghurt
1 egg
1 tbs melted butter
(recipe: vår kok bok/norstedts förlag)

póstur köttur

(..cat as seen through the letterbox on a monday afternoon..)

ex2 turned one yesterday...and it completely slipped my mind!

Blow into this paper bag Go home and stop grinning at everyone

came across this last night while reading, erm, a donald duck comic book...

one of the ducklings...huey, dewey or louie is saying "give me a prefrontal lobotomy" in this comic strip. now, i've been reading comic books since i was a young child (disney ones amongst others) and have come to learn the fairly limited and always "child friendly" disney language. never before have i come across anything like this in a disney comic book...

how refreshing!

the script writers and artist who wrote this particular story are: lars jensen, david gerstein and flemming andersen respectively. ...and the story is about killer, zombie teddy bears that have been possesed by animal ghosts!!!

happy sunday everyone! :)

...stepping over heads...running from the underground...

a few good bits from the sunday papers

professor brian cox: 'we don't know what 96% of the universe is made of - we don't understand something fundamental' - the observer, sun 7th march
(i wish i could get bbc iplayer in sweden...)

jarvis cocker, the pop rebel doing battle with the bbc - the observer, sun 7th march

why is it that "we" only ever manage to export crap from this country???
invasion of the swedes: a cultural incursion from the north - the independent, sun 7th march

just to prove my point:

music:
abba, ace of base, roxette...all swedish "music" exports. believe it or not, but we do actually have a few good bands in this country as well...good, but lesser known outside the scandi borders: bob hund, timbuktu, ebba grön, thåström to name but a few.

literature:
stieg larsson (i now only know a couple of people that haven't succumbed to reading the millenium trilogy...and i'm one of them...and nothing/no-one in this universe could persuade me to read these books). again, there are quite a few good authors in the looong land of sweden...unfortunatelly, most of whom have never been translated into english...but you may just be able to get a german translation of the following: jonas gardell, marcus and peter birro, mark levengood.

film:
unless you're a bergman enthusiast...swedish cinema will probably leave you pretty disappointed. there are a few ok-ish films...but generally speaking, nothing to get that excited about! ...although i will say this, ernst-hugo järegård is one of my all time favorite actors.

Thursday, March 4

your crazy kitten smile..

it has been suggested that zlatan and richard (see "richard and me") are related. this could well be the case... however, as any relation between the two is yet to be established at the time of publication, i have an alternative theory...

zlatan often sits in the window behind me while i'm "working" on fry. i thought he was just checking out the birds (bird as in bird as in the winged creatures that has a tendency to plopp on my windows...pigeons and seagulls etc...don't get any ideas). little did i know that this was simply a clever cover up for looking over my shoulder when i read the richard and me blog.

so my theory is that...blood relatives or not...i'm pretty sure i know now where zlatan gets his inspiration from for his nightly escapades!

(innocent...)

(innocent...)

(caught...HA!)

on a completely unrelated note...
tinsel and baubles. on public display. in march. (and it's not like the people that live here have forgotten/couldn't be bothered to take their christmas decorations down...they put them up yesterday!)...now, i don't consider myself a stickler for tradition/convention...in fact i like it when things are shaken up every once in a while. i'm of the whatever-makes-you-happy school of thought..

but christmas decorations in march...not sure if that will ever catch on (or that it should).

(merry xmas everyone!)

(Why don't you quiet down) (Why don't you quiet down) (Why don't you quiet down) (Why don't you quiet down)

another sleepless night
the reason comes in the shape of a cat
a meowing one

(the terminator)

i'm cat sitting my sister's cat, zlatan while she's in stockholm visiting her boyfriend. she dropped the little kitty off last night, and as i was gonna work today i decided to go to bed at a fairly "resonable" hour (for once). zlatan obviously thought i was a right bore and decided the best way to show his diapproval was by moving the cat litter around his kitty toilet (loudly), meowing looong, desperate (loud) meows, running around the flat (loudly...i thought cats were supposed to be graceful and virtually "soundless"...i was wrong) and then he's giving me puppy eyes when i'm attempting to tell him off...

rude...plain rude, i tell you!

all night..this went on all night..

i.did.not.get.any.sleep.at.all.

when my alarm went of at the crazy hour of 5.15 this morning and as i was getting out of bed...he tip toed around for a bit to make sure i wasn't going back to bed again. then he curled up into a little cat ball in a corner of my bedroom and went to sleep.

his job was done. he's now preparing himself for round two...well, we'll see about that, zlatan!

(the Thominator)

link to a giggling Thom Yorke trying to play/sing weird fishes/arpeggi at the cambridge corn exchange last week. sweet!

Monday, March 1

It barks at no-one else but me Like it's seen a ghost I guess it's seen the sparks a-flowin No-one else would know

the week (i.e. monday) in pictures...

(found this note on xxxxx's letter box..."no local mail"...ok then?)

(revenge of the pigeons)

reason: i think i may have kicked at a pigeon last week. NOT kicked, kicked AT, as in there was no physical contact between my boot and the actual bird...not that that made any difference to the bird whatsof**ingever...revenge is sweet...revenge is pigeon plopp...pigeon plopp on my window.

(blog title: excerpt from thetourist/rh/okcomputer - these words always pop into my head whenever i get barked at through a letter box by a dog...it happenes worryingly often...i'm not paranoid...it's true...dogs hates posties!)
