eine kleine walter mauser has come back from the abode of hades...at last!

...with brand new studded tyres, a brand new side view mirror...and he's clean, so very clean (and we have every intention of keeping him that way, poor thing)!

snapped a few snowy pics out on my round in maria park yesterday...it isn't easy being a postie in this weather at times.

as for the walls of snow in front of the letterboxes...I have few theories as to why that is:

• news of the invention of the snowshovel is yet to reach parts of maria park
• the concept of the snowshovel and how it is best best put to use is completely lost on some people
• nature should be kept all natural and remain free from human intervention

(walter playing hide and seek..took me a while to find him actually!)

(ah, one of my favorites...20' of snow in front of a letter box always cheers me up)

(one almost get the feeling that the people that live here have an aversion to us postie's...?!)

(a bit like climbing a very tall mountain...and once you get to the top you receive your reward...force opening a frozen letter box that nearly take your fingers off...life is so, so sweet)

postman in swedish is brevbärare, which translates as letter carrier...may I suggest the revised and more accurate title: "allväders-terränggående-brev-och-paket-leverantör" (any-weather-any-terrain-letter-and-parcel-delivery-person...or something like that...crap translation...sorry).

I know...this isn't exactly "news" anymore...and I have already congratulated the little one...but felt it would be appropriate to post a blog entry as well ...as the five library is slowly falling apart! one by one. leaving. the end of an era!

no doubt the little one (aka lauren) will become the best bopa (broadcast operations assistant...correct title?) the world has ever seen!!!

rip walter

(walter in happier times...)

...ok ok, he's not quite dead, but he very nearly did die last week when I was in the uk! (you are more than welcome to draw your own conclusions as to why that was...)

the story goes...

one of my colleagues was driving walter when I was away, when all of a sudden walter decided (in protest?), enough is enough. short circuited. brakes.stopped.working.

now, walter isn't exactly a drag racing car...but I don't suppose it matters hugely. it's never, ever a great feeling when the brakes of any vehicle stop working!

my colleague had to throw himself out of suicidal walter going at top speed (25mph...) down the busy road by work! walter then kept on going berserk, zig zagging it down the road until he hit a tree, smashed his headlights and passed out!

he's currently recovering in the car hospital and we're hoping to have him back by the end of the week!
