always always ALWAYS eject!!!!!

IT IS one of the most basic things when disconnecting devices from computers.. and yet, it's probably one of those things most people (? ..or at least i do) "forget" to do. your computer even warns you that "data may be lost if you do not eject the device properly before disconnecting it from the source" (or something to that effect).. but very rarely are any data lost (or at least not the sort of data you'd notice if it was missing).

i synced my ipod (aka douglas) last week.. completely and utterly failed to eject it before disconnecting it from my macbook (aka fry).. BUT obviously waited to disconnect it until the "do not disconnect" message on douglas was shut off. this usually works.. no, not usually, THIS HAS ALWAYS WORKED IN THE PAST.

put on an album and discovered that the album artwork had been wiped. put on another album, then another... ALL WIPED! tried syncing it again, when that failed i tried resetting it. that failed too. re-imported the album artwork to itunes.. but NO! every single album cover was gone.
not the end of the world, but annoying. decided to leave it for a few days, trying to find a way to get the artwork back...somehow. with 10589 files in itunes, restoring it was my very last option.

decided to take the plunge today.. connected douglas to fry, power on, restore button, click.

(lesson learned)

it's taking forever to upload all my music from fry to douglas.. but will defo be well worth it as long as i get my beloved album covers back on douglas!
