prospectors arrive on repeat...

feel an urgent need to share this beautiful piece of music with you lovely peepsters... lauren and i were both listening to it on repeat when we were chatting on msn the other night...such a nerdy thing to do, yet so good!

clickski-clickski on the linkski: jonny greenwood - prospectors arrive

(jonny...)

the track is from the there will be blood soundtrack by the way...

had another dream about being back in the five library last night. i was, yet again, very bossy and quite angry for some reason...? lauren had bought tickets for a radiohead gig but laurie wouldn't give her the time off as five was launching new channels and rebranding (...why i had not thought to buy a ticket to see my favorite band, i don't know!!!). the details of the dream are fairly vague but one thing i do remember was that in the rebranding "plan", five was adding -able to everything, as in it's five-able etc. very weird, and it didn't make any more sense in my dream than it does in real life!

because we separate like ripples on a blank shore (in rainbows)

svensexerobot försvunnen och återfunnen (translation: stag party robot lost and found)

found the above article in today's helsingborgs dagblad online edition with this picture next to it...

(r2d2 - the original)

my immediate thought was: someone's put in quite a few hours and a hell of a lot of effort into making a r2d2 copy!!!

i proceed to click on the link to the article and this meets my poor, poor eyes...

wednesday-evening-shoe-binge

new shoeses.. currently on their way to the little one (aka lauren) as office doesn't ship sale items outside the uk mainland (bad, bad office)!!!

(a little bow red patent lt)

(melissa joy flat brogue blue)

(frank burgundy)

thanks again little one!!! you're a star!!!

2010 hasn't been a very productive shoe year so far (probably more to do with lack of money than lack of nice shoes though). it's hard work trying to catch up on/feed my annual shoe buying habit. but i do have reputation to think about after all! these'll only be numbers 5-6-7 this year. ..i usually average 1-3 pairs/month, so i'm well behind!

thinking these'll go perfectly with my "oxford look".. :)

fog

a thick fog rolled in over helsingborg earlier today. it looked surreal and was so thick it was impossible to see denmark. we could hear the fog coming before we saw it.. fog tends to be very loud in one of the world's busies straits - öresund. the ferries and ships sounding their horns(?) every few seconds.

not very exciting "news", but an excuse to publish the pic above. clear skies then a wall of water vapour.

...sorry, i'm really losing it. the boredom has set in big time. i miss oxford...

spf 50

let the pic below be a lesson and reminder to you all of the importance of wearing sunblock!!!

(me rocking the not so discreet chunky-stripey-arms-look)

i doubt the peppermint-stick-look will ever catch on and/or become widely accepted as a "good look".

(me rocking the weirdly-short-n-chunky-looking-injured-legs-look)

took my postie shorts out for a spin today. first time this year!!! nice, hot and so very summery over here. about 21c today, yet the temperature barely climbed to 3c only a couple of days ago.

a million billion polystyrene cups of tea

(i'm more of a twinings girl myself...but this pic of a polystyrene cup of tea will have to do...it reminds me of my five lib days...)

had the funniest dream last night. i dreamed that i was back working in the five library at 1 stephen street. and so was claire and paul. dave had taken over my old job (as he did in real life), but it seemed to mean sweet fa to me as i just marched on in there, taking no notice of poor dave. i then started ordering people about and getting ready for the tape meeting (which, in my dream, meant we had to translate all the programme titles into swedish?). i think dave was trying to tell me that i was at his desk (my old one) doing his job, but i just ignored him completely. i remember there being a christmas tree on the desk and i rudely pointed out to dave that he should stop going on about it being his desk when it was clearly mine...i mean of course it was. there was a christmas tree on the bloody thing!

dave, is richard still in costa rica?

We've got heads on sticks You've got ventriloquists

the uk election is ON. following it with one part excitement, one part pure fear! the bbc election website's live poll tracker is useful...but the current (2pm gmt) result is hardly surprising (or very promising). but trying to stay optimistic...it's not over just yet!

on a happier note..

the little blackbird chicks are looking a lot less scary now they've "grown" feathers...and the tiny nest is getting more and more cramped by the day! i'm yet to snapp a pic of mummy blackbird...she's a bit shy and always abandons the nest when i'm getting too close.

(monday chicks)

(wednesday chicks)

(hitchhiking ladybird)

not quite ford prefect or arthur dent, but this (barely visible) ladybird hitched a ride with moi from minörgatan to grönkullagatan the other day.

15 steps.. then a sheer drop..

and the winner of this week's worst magazine cover iiiiiiiisss...

(dramatic pause)

(dramatic pause)

(dramatic pause)

bangolf magazine..issue 2..2010!!!

(applause!!!)

it's not the people on the cover that is the "problem" with this pic (some people at work thought i was poking fun at the people on the cover and/or their crazy golf hobby...i'm not...that would be bullying and i do not take part in any such activities). it's everything else! the terrible, unappealing layout. the blurry and overexposed photograph. the poorly "composed" picture. the photographer didn't even manage to get all the people in the picture smiling. i could go on...
and if you think the cover is bad...you should see the editorial pages!!! 30%+ of the pictures were blurry and looked as if they'd been snapped with a crappy mobile phone camera...i fear it doesn't just look as if they were...
whoever is the eic for this pile of crap should be ashamed of him-/herself!

rantrantrant

ok.. i know. crazy golf magazines will probably never be big sellers. bangolf magazine will never be put next to golf punk (it was? a beautifully edited golf/fashion magazine that i audited a few years ago) at the news agents. and yes, it must be f**king soul destroying having to edit a magazine like this (that no, or very few people read), but still..

and oh...i had my first driving lesson on wednesday and it went very well indeed!!! my driving instructor said i'll have my driving licence in no time!!!!! :)
