on a happier note...

my radiohead t-shirt arrived in the post yesterday...I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!

(looks like I've got one white and one tanned arm...I can assure you they're both the same colour in real life...i.e. incredibly pale!!!)

me and walter in maria park on tuesday. really wish I had a driving licence...driving around listening to music really relaxes me and makes me quite happy.

(this pic is taken with my mobile, so the quality is pretty poor, but can I just draw your attention to the text on the steering wheel...it's a list of instructions on how-to-drive-a-walter, hahaha! I'll try and remember to get a close up shot of it tomorrow)

phone books (why why why why why why why why)

it's 2009, so who the fuck is still using a fucking phone book? AND who the hell has worked out that each household needs three fucking phone books each? yup, THREE! three phone books since august/september! why why why...tell me because I would really like to know! well, I do know why, of course...it's the fucking ads. this is only a I-feel-sorry-for-myself-ranting-blog-post...but that's just it...I do feel sorry for myself and so would you if you had to lug 700 heavy as fuck phone books around (weight: approx 700-900lbs).
with 83% of swedish households having access to the internet, my guess is that not that many will use these primitive-as-fuck phone books to look up phone numbers in, which makes it even worse. they don't even serve a fucking purpose!

in the meantime...welcome back sciatica!

(what I was thinking when this pic was taken: "...all I want to do is go to oxford and hang out with radiohead...fuck this!")
and now...a "message" from the ever lovely thom yorke:
[on Oasis] "They're a joke aren't they? It's just lots of middle class people applauding a bunch of guys who act stupid and write really primitive music. Then people say 'oh it's so honest'"
[on The Bends] "It's incredibly annoying that no one's noticed the giggles in that album. The song 'The Bends' is completely jokey, completely taking the piss. None of that stuff had ever happened to us when we wrote it. That was our Bowie pastiche, our joke song ! And I really do wish I'd never written that fucking song - it's become the bane of my life. Hundreds of journalists asking - every single fucking interview : "Do you wish it was the sixties ?" No, I don't wish it was the fucking sixties - Levi's jeans wish it was the sixties - I certainly fucking don't."
"Us on hard drugs? That would be horrible. We'd probably end up sounding like Bryan Adams."
"If people get it, they wouldn't think it's depressing. When people always say that fucking annoying thing about how my work's so depressing, well it's not because.. it's just words, and I put the words to music which I think it's an uplifting thing, otherwise there would be no point in doing this at all."

(if you are a bit sensitive and take offence to all the swearing in this article...sorry...or something...well no actually, I'm NOT sorry...go read something else...this is my blog and I write what I want)

RA D IOHEA_D

my obsession with a certain band is bordering on insanity. my obsession with a certain band is filling the void. my obsession with a certain band is acting as a replacement. my obsession with a certain band is bringing immense happiness to my little life.

I thank thee o great radiohead!

I have listened to nothing else (voluntarily) for the past few weeks...only radiohead! only thom yorke's beautiful voice. thom yorke just became a member of my fantasy rock band. thom yorke is my favorite singer of all time. I LOVE MR THOMAS YORKE. so much!

I know this blog has been a little bit radiohead heavy of late...but I'm not making any excuses. radiohead is a BIG part of my life at the moment. for many, many, many reasons.

(reminds me of our tea breaks in the kitchen at stephen street...sigh...good times, great memories)

as I am an infamous list freak, I have taken the time to compile a list of my favorite radiohead song as of this very moment...if I was to compile a list tomorrow, it would probably look quite different.

how to disappear completely
faust arp
house of cards
the gloaming (softly open our mouths in the cold)
all I need
fake plastic trees
(nice dream)
a wolf at the door (it girl. rag doll)
you and whose army?
the trickster
exit music (for a film)
bullet proof...I wish I was
sail to the moon (brush the cobwebs out of the sky)
in limbo
scatterbrain (as dead as leaves)
lozenge of love

favorite radiohead album: kid a. it took me a really loooooooooooooooooooooong time to get into it, but now I can't get enough of it!

...! :(

being a postie really sucks some days...

...:::WANTED:::...

being an impulsive-I-have-got-to-have-these-shoes-NOW-fanatic, (luckily) I don't often get a chance to say this, but, I wish I had bought these kurt geiger shoeses that time when they found me in selfridges, which, if I remember correctly (and I probably do, my shoe memory is near impeccable), would have been about this time last year, i.e. autumn 08.*

I'm a gut feeling kinda girl...if it feels right I buy it, regardless of the price (well, almost...I'm NOT yet the proud owner of a pair of christian louboutin's, but it's only a matter of time). somehow, SOMEHOW, I didn't get these when I had the opportunity. I am speechless, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND what I was thinking. was I thinking? what made me deny myself these shoeses? they were not even expensive...only £85. the price would not have been an issue. I remember trying them on so size would not have been an issue. so what was the issue that made me walk out of that shop without these beautiful shoeses?

been searching for them on ebay etc, but no luck just yet. I'm not the type to give up...one day I WILL own a pair of kurt geiger cleopatra courts in mustard yellow.

PLEASE let me know IF you come across a pair of these shoeses in a size three!!!
I will be forever grateful!!!

(me and my plaster at approx. 9.50pm/cet)

went for my flu shot today. my sister had a quite a bad reaction to it, but apart from my arm being a little, tiny bit sore, I'm fine.

* 57 word long sentence...my tutor at university would not have been very happy with me...
(just for the record...I know that shoe in plural is shoes, NOT shoeses...I just happen to think that shoeses sounds cuter than shoes)

You have turned me into this Just wish that I... Was bullet proof Was bullet proof

it was a sad day today for my dear little moped as he got stolen while I was out on my round!!! these three little kids (I'm guessing they were about 13-14 years old) were eyeing him up just as I came out of one of the houses. they walked off, giggling. I knew straight away what they were up to and locked the moped when I went into the next few houses. they seemed to have
disappeared so I didn't bother locking him when I went into a house (I/we don't normally lock the mopeds, especially not in a safe oap heavy area like the one I'm in at the moment)...at this point there had been no sign of the kids for about 15 minutes, so I thought it was safe.
they had of course been spying on me and voilá...all of a sudden the moped was gone! there were plenty of witnesses to the incident and they pointed me in the direction they'd driven off in. I spotted them further down the road and as I started walking towards them they ran off.
they had "parked" my poor (brand new, but now really filthy) moped on a muddy slope.
moi, not impressed. not one bit!
I tried diving it off the muddy lawn, but no such luck! in the end I had to pull it down the slope. me=tiny, moped=huge...combination, not so good!
managed to get it back on the pavement eventually and could continue my round.

who said being a postie was boring and uneventful...?

I remembered what it was I was intending to write about in yesterday's blog post the second I published it. obviously!
so here it is, yesterday's blog post today: (it feels totally uninspiring writing this now, but I'll do my best and hopefully you won't notice, despite me already having told you how uninspired I feel right now...)

I have decided to try out a new "career" and I enrolled on a course at the weekend. IF I'm admitted, I start in feburary next year.

(I will NOT be making christian louboutin shoes on the course, only clothes...but oh, how I wish that was the case...anyway, I really like this pic so I've decided it will represent this section. the large cut outs look suspiciously aubrey beardsley like...anyone?)

I don't think I have anything more to add to this section...except that I've just discovered that folkuniversitetet has a branch in los angeles. tempting!!!

my level of un-inspiration is seeping through, not entirely unnoticed...

my orchids...some more alive than others. phalaenopsis x 5 and dendrobium x 1. there are only five orchids in the photo. one (a deadish one) is hiding behind the curtain.

If I just turn and run And it wears me out It wears me out And if I could be who you wanted If I could be who you wanted All the time All the time

it may or it may not have escaped you that I am currently experiencing a bit of a radiohead phase. there is a lot of radiohead in my life. radiohead has been a constant in my life since 1994. my very first radiohead encounter was when I saw them perform creep live on some MTV-spring-break-pool-party-show (?)...on second thought, that just can't be right, surely! thom yorke had longish, bleach blonde hair. there was definitely a swimming pool near the stage, lots of kids with brightly coloured clothes, it was a daytime gig and the sun was shining. how very radiohead...!

(radiohead version .1994)

(radiohead version .2009)

..............................................................................*

just did a quick youtube search and I FOUND IT! and all of the above is actually correct! the pool, the sunny weather, the hair... click on this link to check the clip out: radiohead / creep live at the mtv beach house in 1994

was youtubing radiohead interviews earlier and came across some really awkward stuff. well, in radiohead world, awkward is far more prominent than easy-happy-go-lucky, but it's fantastically entertaining nonetheless.

I managed to catch them on the pablo honey tour...at mejeriet in lund. radiohead is in fact one of my favorite live bands and my all time favorite live gig was their 1994 roskilde festival performance on the green stage!

now, I didn't actually log in to write about radiohead...albeit radiohead being an important part of my life right now. I was going to write about something entirely different. something so vastly different that I have completely forgotten what it was. my memory is weird. I have no trouble remembering details from a mtv video I saw 15 years ago, but mere minutes ago...gonegonegone!

worrying!

guess you'll have to make do with this radiohead heavy blog post until I can remember what it was I was intending to write about!

på gensyn!

They love me like I was their brother They protect me Listen to me They dug me my very own garden Gave me sunshine Made me happy Nice dream Nice dream

I HATE SHOPPING!

I HATE shopping because...
#1 I live in a land of giants (aka sweden)
#2 I don't like unnecessary details (sequins, studs, buckles, embroidery etc)...topshop is infamous for adding stuff like this to their clothes
#3 xs used to mean extra small...it is no longer a size, it's merely a word...it means nothing and has nothing to do with the actual size of the garment...at all!
#4 everybody else seems to love it...the crowds, oh, the crowds drive me crazy!
#5 but most of all...I HATE shopping because I know I could (and would much rather) be spending my time doing something worthwhile.

...but the trouble is, I LOVE clothes!

clothes are fun. clothes are art (well, some of them are). clothes are inspirational. ...to me!

(jacket and beret - h&m; top - vero moda; jeans - topshop; scarf - lindex; shoes . anthropologie)

it's a bit of a catch 22 situation, one that I can't seem to find a good alternative to. online clothes shopping is NOT an alternative. so for now, I just have to endure the pains of shopping if there are to be any new additions to my wardrobe.

bought this very un-me faux fur leopard print jacket today (see pics above)...not sure yet how I feel about it. not sure if faux fur is a good thing or not (I don't mean to compare faux fur to real fur by that statement...it's merely an aesthetic judgement, NOT a ethical one).

while I'm logged in and writing I may as well recommend this mega-hyped-you've-probably-already-heard-about-it-blog: style rookie.
the blogger's name is tavi and she's 13 (thirteen) years old...13! despite being an occasional blogger myself, I don't actaully read blogs. except for tavi's one.

other "news": my coke addiction is getting out of hand again. I've downed a large bottle (1.5l) of coke while writing this post. I'm pretty sure I could (and should) be classed as a medical miracle. been nursing a coke addiction since, let me think, the age of 13 (possibly even earlier than that), and I have never had any problems with dental caries or the like.

I still can't belive she's only 13 years old...!

friendships, owls & mad men

...I think that sums up my life fairly well at this very moment. I'm totally in love with all my friends...but not in a weird way!!! realising more and more how lucky I am and how grateful I should be to have such wonderful people in my life. not going to go all sentimental...but I've been trapped in my head for the past few months, there's been a lot of thinking and pondering and wondering, some happiness and some sadness. some friendships have lasted longer than others, some are new and others older. some rediscovered.

THANKS!!! believe me, I KNOW HOW LUCKY I AM!!!

owlsowlsowls...it's simple. I love owls. I love all birds (my kakapo obsession is well documented on this blog). bought these owl plates at lagerhaus on monday. the super cute cardigan is a gift from carolin, it's from anthropologie in san francisco. love it love it love it so much!

mad men is yet again making a substantial dent in my spare time! recieved season 2/episodes 1-4 from lovefilm.se in the post yesterday...

the secret is to keep busy...

and a busy day indeed it has been for pinche-fjun! woke up at 9ish, but stayed in bed til 10. did my usual online-newspaper-round, then it was off to the shops and the market for some food shopping. barely made it up the hill and home with the shopping.

(random pic of petite moi prior to a night out with the boys last night...and YES, I really should clean that mirror)

food experiment #1: kladdkaka
once at home I made kladdkaka (not sure how to translate it...but it's sort of a sticky chocolate cake thing). I left them in the oven slightly too long, but they still taste pretty yummy, but really should have been a lot stickier.

food experiment #2: rolls
made some really nice rolls (yes, nice, believe it or not!)...I made three batches. One containing walnuts (inspired by the m&s bread), one with toasted sunflower seeds and one with dried fried onions. I think I can guess what you're thinking...dried fried onion...yuck! but it actaully works!

(these are NOT rolls! I made these muffins a few weeks ago and they have nothing to do with this post, but I think they turned out really pretty and so wanted to share this pic with you peeps)

food experiment #3:
I LOVE cream of tomato soup, but it's proven quite impossible getting hold of it in swedenland, so what to do...? well, there's only one thing for it...DIY cream of tomato soup. it's actaully not that difficult, despite me being a terrible cook.

(DIY cream of tomato soup and home made dried fried onion roll)

took a little break after all the cooking and baking and watched a girly film...the devil wears prada. I could be making lots of really bad excuses now, but I'm not going to. it's a film. it's easy on the brain. it's fairly entertaining. I like "easy" films...if I want something heavy I'll read a book.

as today's theme is to keep busy...I decided to rearrange the furniture in my flat. my desk was in a small alcove in the hallway, but it now lives in the bay window in my living room. so now I can watch the traffic go by as I write. pretty sweet. the living room gets too sunny/hot in the summer for my computers, but should be fine in the dark, dark, daaark winter months.

been listening to radiohead all day (all week in fact). a bit of radiohead always manage to cheer me up! I never understood why people found them depressing...their music has the opposite effect on me. I'm not saying their music is cheerful, it isn't, I just don't find it depressing...you get me?! Am I the only person in the world of who feels this way...?

(fritz and I walked past thom yorke in portobello road a few years ago...he's about my height...tiny, tiny man, but beautiful, beautiful voice)

it's only midnight...looks like most people have gone to bed already, or maybe they've just gone out (us swedsters go out really late, usually around midnight)...and I'm running out of things to do...

...of course, there's still the mountain of washing up in the kitchen!

to do list

I want to drive a '55 chevrolet bel air across the us of a!

I want to go on a roller coaster world tour. I was going to start with the high roller in Las Vegas, but the high roller is no more, sadly. found some pretty cool ones on this website though...the us and japan seems to be the place to be roller coaster wise!

I want to go to tuva and see exactly what it was that Feynman found so intensely fascinating about this place!

I want to do volotary work on Codfish island...taking care of the remaining 124 kakapos!

I want to study komodo dragons on komodo island!

I want to see the white stripes play live in nashville and detroit!

that's a small selection of the millions of things I want to do...right now!

pinche-fjun in action...

thought I'd cheer you all up with some work shots of yours truly!

(wed 14/10)

check out the difference in the amount of mail! I know this may seems insignificant to most (or maybe all of you)...but I can assure you it is VERY significant to my back!

(fri 16/10)

nothing else to report at this very point in time...but might have something soon if things go to plan, hehehe!

to be or not to be...

...is more than just a question. it's also the name of danish artist, thomas kluge's current exhibition at kronborg (a.k.a. hamlet's castle) in helsingør. went to check it out with some friends on saturday, then went for a few drinks at bixen and later at strandborgen, also in helsingør. had a lovely day, all in all! cold though...VERY cold!

(the kronborg exhibition poster)

can't find any good thomas kluge websites, unfortunatelly...in fact, it's proved VERY difficult getting any info on him at all. I was really impressed by his work though, but feel I can't quite do him and/or it justice here on this blog...you'll simply have to go and see it for yourself! also, not completely convinced why they've chosen the crown prince of denmark as the "poster boy" for the exhibition...? great painting, yes...but not the best one in my opinion. my guess is that they're trying to make a connection between the exhibition and the castle...successful? nopes, just obvious!

(thomas kluge in front of his painting "betonmanden")

walter mauser

"anything that happens, happens. anything that, in happening, causes something else to happen, causes something else to happen. anything that, in happening, causes itself to happen again, happens again. it doesn't necessarily do it in chronological order, though."

not only one of my favorite quotes...it has also proved to be mind boggeling accurate! I am of course referring to my adventures with none other than walter mauser!

walter mauser, as some, maybe all of you know by now, is my sometime work "car". I had a two week stint with walter a few weeks ago, and we were briefly reunited again last week. ...to the despair of the people of Maria Park (posh-ish part of helsingborg - swedish only on wiki).

I don't have a driving licence...only a certificate to drive an eu-moped - despite looking nothing like a moped, walter is classed as an eu-moped so therefore I am allowed to drive walter. just wanted to make that clear!

NORMALLY you'd need to take driving lessons in order to drive a vehicle. NORMALLY you'd drive with an instructor that tells you what to do, what you do right, what you do wrong, and so on. VERY RARELY do someone just plonk you in a vehicle and tell you to just go for it! but, when this happens...what do you do...you go for it! you make the best of the situation...you try and figure the vehicle out as best you can and then you just sort of drive...I guess! that's what I did anyway...and it's gone pretty well! ...if you don't take into account the numerous small accidents I've had during my three weeks with walter. as I'm a bit of list-lover...here's my walter-mauser-accident-list:

crashed into...
the edge of a pavement
a traffic sign
a large rock
a wall...the same one on several occasions
went flying over...
a speed bump...or maybe that should be bumpS
near misses...
a number of letterboxes
two jehovah's witnesses

I don't actually think I'm a bad driver as such...there just happens to be a lot of stuff in "my way"...ALL THE TIME!

Saturday, September 26

obsessions...

here are some of (fairly) recently acquired obsessions of the Veg...

obsession #1: MAD MEN
I'm not a series-type-person...in fact I avoid anything that has the intention of running more than one to two seasons. but there is always an exception, and mad men is that exception!
why mad men?
it's the best looking series around...probably ever!
the people are beautiful...the clothes are beautiful...the set is beautiful...the acting is beautiful...the cars are beautiful...the words are beautiful...the details are beautiful! and if I could be any woman from any time period, real or fictional, I'd be joan holloway (christina hendricks - pic) - she IS the most beautiful lady I have ever seen!

obsession #2: ORCHIDS
yup, I'm a passionate orchid lover/grower! I only have three so far, but I'm planning to get a few more soon! this is what I'm guessing that you are thinking right now: orchids, yep, they're pretty but what's the big deal...?
the big deal is that in the not so distant past, I could, with minimum effort, kill a cactus in under three hours (I didn't torture the poor things, they simply died on me...). so it is a BIG DEAL to me that I, with sheer love was able to keep an orchid (phalaenopsis) not only alive, but in full bloom since march through to three days ago! just for the record, it is still alive, but all the flowers have fallen off. my next project is to read up on orchids and how to care for them!

obsession #3: PUCKO
it's chocolate milk...CHOCOLATE! I always have and I always will love everything and anything chocolate...!

Saturday, September 12

don't laugh now but...

I look like a right "fjun" here, but your request is my command...so here it it is, a pic of me and walter mauser (it's the name of the "car") via knut*, bluetoothed to feynman** and then bluetoothed onto fry***. I really hope you appreciate all the effort I'm going to to get this rare pic to you peeps... ;)

all's good in swedenland...you wouldn't have thought so by the look of this pic but we're experiencing a right indian summer right now. it's been 21+c all week. I know...talking/writing about the weather is dead boring, just didn't really have anything else to write about, sorry!

BEWARE...

...the pinche-fjun has been unleashed...in a posten "car" that is actually an eu moped...disguised as a car...on four wheels, with a steering-wheel and all things car-like (minus a gear box)!

it's not me in the pic, hence the clumsy cropping...but the car's the same and that's what's important after all.

can't quite believe they're letting me drive one of these mini-monsters...but still! it feels really cool and I can't wait to drive a real car!

that's all folks...can't really think of anything else to write about and don't feel much like writing anyway. just wanted to share this little car-experience with you's!

take it easy and DON'T PANIC (my favorite quote of the moment courtesy of mr douglas adams).

Monday, August 17

WARNING - ACHTUNG - VARNING

As from today, I am legally allowed to drive a EU-moped!!!!!

passed both my theory test and my driving test. got the top score on my theory
test and to balance it out I was the worst driver...by far! hahaha. I've only ever driven a moped once before...and that was between 16-18 years ago and I drove it for less than five (5) minutes. I didn't fall over, but I can't say it went well by any means. but then again, I'll be driving a three-wheel-monster-moped at work, so I guess it doesn't matter that much. the differences between the two are enormous, and I've been practising on a Posten moped and that went pretty well.

I've also got a very special little friend staying with me this week...namely katt-fjunet zlatan, my sister's cat!

(pic borrowed from TheMillaN)

katt-fjunet is a bit of a j cash fan...
