no hollywood for pinche-fjun...

...not yet anyway! ;)

needless to say, I didn't get the acting job!!! it would have been a lot of fun (and a lot of money), but I can't say that I'm in the least dissapointed. I do have an overwhelming sense of pride though...of the fact that I went through with it all and went and auditioned for the part. it might not be a big deal to some people, but to me...how can I describe it accuratly...! auditioning is almost scarrier than jumping out of a plane without a working parashute (ok, so I'm exagerating just a tad...but only a tad!!!). enough about that...I'm sure plenty more opportunities will come along shortly! :)

I've FINALLY got around to publishing some pics of the flat!!!

top to bottom...
kitchen 1: my very 70s kitchen table and chairs AND my new babushka curtains that my mum and I made today!!! my parents found the 50s kitchen scales at an auction earlier this year, and the bucket belonged to my great grandmother.
kitchen 2: my new fridge/freezer and cooker. the eclaire gave me the red wesco kettle as a leaving-london-present. people have a habit of buying me cook books, hence the small library on the art of cooking between the f/f and cooker.
living room 1: my super-cosy-mega-armchair that was a present from my aunt. my first ever cuddly toy, otto (he's the yellow/green cutie in the chair - he's been with me since I was a couple of week's old). HIF nallen also deserves a mention...he's only been with me since 2007, but is equally cute. my science mag collection in the yellow crates to the left of the chair and some of my beloved books on the right (I need a bookshelf soooo badly)!!!
living room 2: my records, my cds and my stereos!!! + my mini drum kit (I played the drums when I was younger a have wanted a drum kit for quite a while...so my sister and her boyfriend got me this little sweetie for christmas last year).
hallway: my "fry" corner. fry is the name of my mac - named after mr stephen fry and philip j. fry. also in this pic...my dream car, a miniature 55 chevrolet bel air (oh, how I wish it was the real deal)!!!

PS: the yucky yellow and terrifying terracotta is to be no more in a few week's time...I've decided to paint all the rooms in a nice "warm" white colour, then fill the walls with posters, paintings and pictures. I'm going to paint the kitchen table/chairs in a black vinyl colour too...not too keen on the brown wash (I know, it's hard to believe). more pics to come when it's all done, promise!!!!!

PS 2: just noticed there are a bunch of spelling mistakes in the above text! apologies, me very tired and very bad proof reader today!

glad midsommar!!!

PS: the audition went pretty well...I'll find out monday if I get the job or not...! :)

hollywood next???

I've probably already jinxed myself by telling most of my friends in swedenland the "good news" anyway, so I may as well tell the rest of you peepsters as well!

I've got an audition in malmö for a tv commercial this thursday afternoon!!!

there you have it! I've done it now! jinxed myself to places you can only dream of! not that I believe in the jinx effect any way - me not the least superstitious!

but yea...would you believe: me - audition - tv commercial!?!?! and the funny thing is, I haven't even applied for it! I was contacted by a production company yesterday, they had seen my profile on a website for extras. they basically emailed me to see if I would be interested in auditioning for the "lead" in a tv commercial they're shooting in copenhagen at the end of the month.

I haven't had to endure an audtion since the mid-ninties, when I was doing a bit of acting in a few theatre productions (both amateur and professional). was taken aback by it at first...I HATE AUDITIONS...in fact it's one of the things that I fear the most...not the actual audition, but all the thoughts and the nervousness leading up to it. it simply brings out the worst in me. was a bit relieved when the production company wrote back to me today saying the part requires no dialogue, all you have to do is look comfortable and act naturally in front of the camera. and I guess you have to be quite photogenic too...hmmm!

I'm still a bit nervous, but have decided to be brave and go through with it anyway. WHAT'S THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN!?!?! plus, I know I will regret it if I don't give it a go. It's just been such a loooooomg time since I did anything like this, I had almost forgotten what it feels like to be in pre-audition mode, hahaha!

keep your fingers crossed for me this thursday at 2pm sweden time / 1pm uk time!

ps: sorry about all the !!! I'm just in a very !!! sort of mood today!!!

crüe crüe crüe...

shoeses, shoeses...nothing but shoeses!

after three months in storage and a further month or so in boxes, I finally set my beloved shoeses free this evening!

all 75+ pairs live in my hallway now...no more dark-box-prison.

just wanted to share this "news" with you all. I know, I know, useless info...but hope you enjoyed it anyway!

ps: this is the first time I've managed to fit them all in one photo (and in one room too for that matter, without having to squash them into laundry bags etc)!

the return of pinche-fjun and the crüe...

I published 13 blog articles in may...so far I've published one in june (this will be my second posting). just for the record, I blame claire!!! ;)

As most (if not all?) of you know the ladyship herself came over to hbg to visit me for a week (she went back to la londres yesterday). We had an absolute brill time despite the weather being simply awful most of the time.

went to gothenburg on tuesday...for, hrm, coffee. I know, going to gothenburg simply to hang out in different cafes is a bit extravagant to say the least. I have NOTHING to say in our defence as we did almost no gbg research at all, hence very little action on the sightseeing front. we did manage to catch a photo exhibition at the hasselblad center though...in between coffee breaks!!! also managed to catch up with my friend sophie over a pizza in haga, a very pretty and picturesque part of gothenburg. it started raining on the way back to hbg...and it didn't stop until today (sat).

our wednesday copenhagen trip had been planned since the beginning of the year...as this was the
day crüe fest 2009 arrived in above mentioned city! I first got into the crüe as a young teenage
veg, so had been looking forward to this day for quite some time. this was my first crüe gig by the way...but hopefully not the last! the top pic was taken outside kb hallen before the gig. the rawk ladies in the pic are: (l-r)
camilla (my sister), camilla, carolin, claire, lina.

the crüe rules...and rocks like no-one else! they were mos def worth the wait! I know this type of music is not everyone's cup of tea...but I can honestly say that mötley crüe are known to put on one hell of a show and they didn't dissapoint, in fact they exceeded my (already high) expectations!!! ...it was a teenage dream come true!

for more crüe gig pics and crüe gig films visit my sister's blog: millan blogg

we also went to freetown christiania, which is a self-proclaimed autonomous neighbourhood in the borough of christianshavn in copenhagen. I have been to copenhagen counltess times over the years, but this was my first time at christiania. not really sure what to make of it. can't say I got any good vibes from the locals there, despite it being "advertised" (not sure advertise is the correct word to describe it, but it will have to do until I think of a better word) as a community for free spirits. got quite a few funny looks in there...and it's not just me being paranoid, claire and my sister felt it too (there is of course a slight possibility they are paranoid too, hmmm...).

this is it for now...i promise to be back again soon with more pinche-fjun news and stuff!

???

HELP...I need help...NOW!

I've been invited to a fancy dress party at the end of this month...what to wear, what to wear!?!?!?!

My sister is going as Kat Von D...great choice! But I just don't know what I want to go as...have completely run out of ideas. I'm thinking something feminine, not scary and cool...but WHAT???

SUGGESTIONS ARE MORE THAN WELCOME!!!

text me, email me or post a blog comment...anything as long as you give me suggestions!!!

I really like Alberto Vargas, but not sure I'm brave enough to go as a pin-up, hahaha! Maybe
going as some sort of comic book character would be cool...but who??? I've always wanted to go as Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas...but buying a wig is just far too expensive...AND it's more halloween than summer-fancy-dress!

KEEP THE SUGGESTIONS COMING...!!!
(there may even be a little prize for the best one...)

Friday, May 29

bye bye tågaborg...hello högaborg!

long time, no blogging!

got the keys to our new flat today!!! ...so don't expect to hear a lot from me over the next few days...or possibly weeks!

as you can see, the flat I have so very skillfully circled in a lovely pinkish colour is of course mine and Mojo's new home! I borrowed this pic from the estate agent's website...I promise to upload Veg originals of the interior of the flat soon.

there's a hairdressers and a greek pizzeria (???) right below our flat...and there are at least another two pizzerias within a 20 second (literally) walking distance from the building. I would not be surprised if there are more pizzerias per capita in swedenland than in italy...the place is just swamped by pizza places!

take care all you lovely peepsters...I'll be back as soon as my internet is up and running in the new place!!! :)

the amazing baking paulsson sisters

top to bottom...
pic 1. camilla (aka kräck) is mixing together the ingredients with the skill of a master muffin maker
pic 2. cecilia is lovingly sprinkling raspberries and blueberries on top of the batter
pic 3. kräck is spooning in the rest of the mixture on top of the first layer of berries
pic 4. another layer of berries is placed on top of the muffin-batter as a garnish
pic 5. the finished product! Y-U-M!

veg the super shopper: part 4

the veg has been at it again! shopping shopping shopping...and I've always claimed that I don't like shopping...hmmm!

adopted Siv the vacuum cleaner earlier today. it was love at first sight!!! I decided to name it Siv after my mum (hehehe) and a baby cat (not kitten...baby cat) that I read about in the papers this morning. it's just such a cute name...Siv (pronounced seev).

bought this kitchenaid potato peeler at the weekend: I've been wanting something (anything) by kitchenaid
for ages now and this was the only thing my budget would allow at the moment...! still, this little red wonder is as cool as it gets when it comes to potato peelers and I am one very proud owner!!!

11 days and 17 hours to go...

gastro-veg

it's true! the veg has turned into a right gastrotastic wonderlady. I made ALL of this, ALL on my own!

some of you will probably think I had some sort of assistance...and all I have to say to you is that...YOU ARE WRONG! (my mum sliced the salmon...I don't like touching meat...but that's it...promise)!

the slightly blurry dish on the far left is thickly sliced gravadlax topped with a prawn/egg/dill/lemon zest mixture. the pinkish dressing is cottage cheese/creme fraise/lumpfish row and dill (again...we're big on dill in this country...). and finally, roast potato salad: roasted new potatoes/spring onion/radishes/parsley/chives.

I also made a vinegrette (top, middle) but it tasted awful...and it tasted awful because I did what I always do when I fail at cooking...I altered the recipe! Only a little bit, but enough to make it taste like...well, something resembling mud.

PS: don't forget to vote...see left!

...and to my fellow scandi´s...happy syttende mai!

14 days to go now...!

w h i t e s t r i p e s

just read an interview with mr jack white on musicradar.com regarding a new white stripes album. sadly, as previously reported (or at least rumoured), it's unlikely they'll be releasing a new ws album this year...

BUT...there are some good news:

1. the dead weather will be relaeasing their debut album "horehound" on july 13th!!!

2. the film "it might get loud" will be out later this year...in america at least, really not sure when it will be released in europe (...yet).

that's all I'm going to say...PÄRONSPLITT!

(gb glace poster from 1976 >>>)

the pleasure of finding things out

when I find something I love I always try to share it with (read: force it upon) family and friends. this is no exeption. Richard P Feynman has been one of my all time heroes for quite some time and watching this Horizon ep from the early 80s always cheers me up. the man was a genius!

the pleasure of finding things out:

ENJOY and please let me know what you think!

hbg marathon 2009

the crowds, the noise, the billions and billions of marathon runners...yup, it's that time of year again! it's springtime 2009 in helsingborg (spring means run in swedish...see what they did there...ah, those clever sporty people at the council or whoever organises this thing). I filmed this 37 sec clip from my parents' kitchen...while making spaghetti bolognese, hense the "frying-sound" in the background.
happened to be in the vicinity of the london marathon when I was visiting the great city a couple of weeks ago. as you can probably see the similarites between the hbg and the ldn marathon are near enough endless!

also thought i'd FINALLY publish a little pic of my new sandals...as promised earlier this week!

moving day is approaching at breakneck-speed...only 22 days to go now! I know I'm going on and on and on and on about this...but I'm just so excited to finally get a propper flat. have lived in a studio flat for the last ten years, so the thought of a REAL home with a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom and a livingroom is exciting me no end!

can't get enough of right now: the white stripes (there's rumours of a new WS studio album this year...fingers so crossed it hurts), mark ryden and LA ink.

i heart the kakapo: part 2

why o why can I not figure out how to add (youtube) videos to this blog!!! so annoying as there are a few clips I want to share with you peeps. if anyone knows how to do it...PLEASE TELL ME!

so as I'm yet to work out how to add video to this blog you'll have to make do with links for the time being...enjoy!

came across a...well a bit of a surprise pic when I was looking for a suitable pic of stephen and a kakapo. type the following into your google images search engine: stephen fry kakapo, scroll down a bit and... TADAAAA!

the picture to the right is of stephen fry and mark carwardine, and the weird "hat" mark is wearing is a kakapo!

by the way, am I on a roll or what when it comes to blogging at the moment...!!!

the vegemite's latest addiction...

it's my little guilty pleasure at the moment! been catching up on epsiodes of bygglov dating back to 2006 on tv4 play.

I'm just loving it...I's such a sucker for all things interior designy...been buying loads of elle interiör and elle decoration magazines too.

26 days to go...!

PS: bought a new pair of shoeses today...well my parents bought them for me and I'm "paying" them back by cleaning their flat! anyways...back to my new shoeses! been looking for a pair of brown leather sandals for a while now and finally found a pair I love. bought them at trampolin in helsingborg. will try and take a pic of them and upload on the blog tomorrow. my mum and I went over to my sister's earlier and I wore them then...my poor, little feet were a bloody (literally) mess by them time we got to camilla's flat which is only a 20 minute walk from my parents'! OUCH! but I love them all the same...just as I love my other 74 pairs of shoeses!

AAARRGH...AAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR-RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-RRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG-GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH-HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-HHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yup...that's EXACTLY what it sounds like in my head!

the reason why...the three kids that are jumping up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down in the flat above my parents'.

...up and down, up and down, up and down...

and not only today...not only when I'm trying to write a CV and covering letter, not only when I'm trying to get some sleep, not only when I'm on the phone to a friend...no...it's all the time!

...up and down, up and down, up and down...

the screen on my mac (fry) is shaking (probably with fear at the prospect that one of the kids will evetually come through the ceiling)...the lamps are swinging from side to side...the glasses in the cupboards are rattling...

...up and down, up and down, up and down...

and me...I'm tearing my hair out...thinking that colin is a very wise carrot indeed!

foam: man's favorite thing?

it's true! we humans have this strange, yet wonderful fascination with all things foam - sea foam, foam parties, foam matresses, foam-like sweets...and now foam tooth paste! at least that's what stephen fry said in a QI ep...and if you can't trust mr fry, then who can you trust, I ask you!?!

those of you that know me well may have noticed that I'm a bit of an "ad nerd" in that I always want to try out new things...especially those that are being heavily advertised on telly and/or magazines. everything from mascaras to toilet cleaners! ...and now "aquafresh's iso-active foaming gel". and sweet baby jesus did it foam! I admit I may have squeezed a little too much tooth paste onto my tooth brush...it felt like someone had sprayed some crazy-industrial-strenght-foam-filler in my mouth (sorry...I know how graphic that sounds...been watching too many family guy eps...not very lady-like of me...but family guy is great and foam filler...well foam filler is foam filler and that's what it felt like......so there!).

while on the subject of adverts...here are my two all time favorite tv ads:

you can read more about karius och baktus (the two tooth trolls) here! karius och baktus is to my generation of swedes what thomas the tank engine is to every five year old kid in the UK!

Friday, May 1

thank you lady klirr...

long time, no blogging...but at least I've got a very good excuse! Pinche-Fjunet has been to london for a few days to see Mo and friends, and just didn't have the time, the energy or the will to be blogging!

this blog entry is both a thank you AND a recommendation! the thank you goes to none other than the lovely Claire McC - she got me this book for my birthday and I'm thanking her very muchly for it!!!
...and the recommendation! well, just click on the tree show link below and explore mr ryden's art for yourself!

mark ryden - the tree show (porterhouse fine art editions inc. 2009)

I really, really wish there was a way to upload more than one image per blog...without it looking like muddled up crap!

ps: I find the baby with antlers a little bit creapy...but maybe that's just me, hahaha!

(30 days to go...!)
